Tony Blair condemns "shocking and deplorable" murder of five Israelis on the West Bank
Saturday, Mar 12, 2011 in Office of Tony Blair, Office of the Quartet Representative
Quartet Representative Tony Blair joined the international condemnation of the murder of five Israelis in the West Bank settlement of Itamar in a suspected terrorist attack describing them as "shocking and deplorable."
A Jewish couple and three of their children were stabbed to death in Itamar on Saturday in what Israeli officials said was an attack by a Palestinian who broke into their home in the early hours.
Quartet Representative Tony Blair said: "This brutal and appalling murder is shocking and deplorable. I send my deepest condolences and sympathy to those remaining members of the family and to the community."
US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said: “I was shocked and deeply saddened to learn of the brutal murder of an Israeli family early Saturday morning in the West Bank. The United States condemns this appalling attack in the strongest possible terms. To kill three innocent children and their parents while they sleep is an inhuman crime for which there can be no justification. Our thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends of the victims and with all the people of Israel.
"The murderers must be found and brought to justice. Israeli security forces have launched a thorough investigation and we look to the Palestinian authorities to assist in every way possible."
